At a glance, the first completed home at Nurai looks like a grassy hill. The 17,707-square-foot home—which is actually built of marble and limestone—has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and a double-story atrium with a stunning view of the Arabian Gulf. The home is located on a 46,000-square-foot lot and has 120 feet of beach frontage at Nurai, a private-island residential community in Abu Dhabi.
Nurai will eventually include 31 such beachfront estates ($13 million to $16 million), each built into the land with dramatic, curvaceous roofs covered in grass. The roofs are as much an exercise in utility as they are in aesthetics; the natural covering helps keep the homes cool. Each residence at Nurai will also include a ground-floor garden, private beach access, an infinity pool, service quarters, chef and show kitchens, and outdoor showers.
In addition to the beachfront estates, Nurai is offering 46 three-bedroom water villas ($6 million to $10 million), which are elevated over the sea in Bora Bora–like fashion. These glass-walled, 5,500-square-foot homes will feature rooftop pools, gourmet kitchens, and multiple decks. Currently, only 10 estates and five villas remain for sale at Nurai.
