Construction of the clubhouse at Nantucket’s Great Harbor Yacht Club concluded in July, signaling the final stage of the club’s development. Only the second yacht club to open on the island (the first one, the Nantucket Yacht Club, debuted more than 100 years ago), the Great Harbor Yacht Club has been six years in the making and occupies the site of a former shipyard on Nantucket Harbor, with a view of Brant Point Lighthouse. With its chestnut floors, mahogany details, and nautical-themed interiors, the 25,000-square-foot, two-story clubhouse features a formal dining room with cathedral ceilings and an open kitchen, the Grill Room for more casual meals, an airy library, and other event space. Boston chef Tom Berry will oversee all the club’s culinary fare. In addition to the clubhouse, the Great Harbor Yacht Club offers a sailing center on the waterfront, a 36-slip dock and pier, a tennis-and-swim complex with eight clay courts and two heated pools, and the Sports Barn, which houses a fitness center and spa.
