In the 1930s, industrialist Henry Ford came to Ways Station, Georgia, to build a winter retreat and saw that the town, which had been destitute for nearly 70 years, needed a complete overhaul. Ford set out to revive the area, which was renamed Richmond Hill and today is home to the Ford Plantation, a gated community with a Pete Dye golf course and a limited number of homes, including this 5,300-square-foot manor. The home was built in 2003 by New York–based Studio for Civil Architecture but evokes old southern splendor with its dark-blue shutters, full-floor master suite, spacious verandas, and brick courtyard with gas lanterns.
